Newenka

What am I up to lately?  I guess I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

I help with things my children are interested in.

I advocate, lecture, support and assist in a wide variety of things related to gifted children.

I am getting involved in community theater.

I am writing a book about traveling the world.

I am online publishing a children's book on publishing written by a friend.

I have been doing a little dabbling in game development and looking into publishing.  Attending gaming conventions is a hoot! I love to play games - lots and lots of games.

I have started to take photography classes.

I garden - my perennial garden mostly takes care of itself, with just a little nudging here and there.  Anika and I have been working on our vegetable garden - yummy tomatoes and lots of butternut squash.  I am the only gardener in Illinois who is incapable of growing zucchini.  I don't actually even like zucchini that much, but man, why can't I grow it.  Others throw seeds behind the garage and sneak zucchini onto my porch in the middle of the night, they have so much they don't know what to do with it.  Not me.  I am also no good at summer squash - though in 2010 I did get 1 from my three tenderly loved plants.

I bike - I ride everywhere until it snows.  That's how I get my exercise. I do all my errands on the bike.  I should publish a biking routes map - a how to get from here to there on the nicest, least busy streets.

Sometimes I play housewife, but honestly, my heart is not in it and it shows.  Yannis and I continue to think that what we really need is an Alice.
