Moeraki Boulders
Omaru
Another place to see blue penguins coming home for the evening. (We watched them on the Otago Peninsula as well.) Kaikoura
There is a very deep ocean trench that emerges right around Kaikoura. This means that the cold currents from the deep mingle with the warmer currents of the shallows, making this an ideal feeding ground for whales, seals and dolphins.
Tasman BayWe skirted Picton, from whence the North Island ferry runs, and drove on in the direction of the Abel Tasman National Park. We stayed in Marahou.
From the Abel Tasmin National Park, we were North Island bound. |
