Wood Ducks

(Question: who paints them, and how do they get that fine paint not to wash off?)

I hadn't planned on it, but I fell in love with these little guys - the detail in their plumage is just amazing. We had 3 opportunities to photograph them under various lighting conditions.

Yum - a nice tree nut snack.

In some situations, we could get up close, but in most cases, we used our long lenses.
